The object of this activity is to attempt to explain the global pattern of
sea surface.
The map (figure 1) shows the global annual average surface salinity.
a) First, observe and describe the main surface salinity pattern. Does it
mostly vary with latitude, or are there other variations of note?
b) Identify processes that affect the salinity at the sea surface. For example,
xxx affects salinity and and the plot yyy shows global observations of this
parameter.
c) What additional data could be used to test your idea?

the relevant data.
d) Write an argument that supports your theory on the causes of the surface
salinity distribution shown in figure 1.
